Welcometo the 14th ABC Asia-Pacific Conference!

It is our pleasure to invite you tosubmit your abstracts and completed papers to the Association for BusinessCommunication’s Asia-Pacific Conference. The conference will be hosted inGuangzhou, on November 27-29, 2015.

Conference  Theme

Business  Communication in the Global Century

 

We are living in the 21stCentury of increased level of globalisation and internationalisation in whichpeople of different countries, cultures and communities interact morefrequently than ever. The conference aims to focus on the diversity andcomplexities of communication in business across countries and cultures.Specifically we propose the following two aims:  

1.   Providing scholars,educators and practitioners from different disciplines (business English,business communication, management, and practitioners) with opportunities tointeract, network and benefit from each other’s research and expertise relatedto effectively managing business communication and intercultural communication issues;

2.   Advancing the methodologyfor business communication and intercultural communication research anddisseminate practical findings to facilitate understanding across cultures, communitiesand disciplines

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

1.Business communication in the 21st Century: Changingconcepts of business communications in the 21stcenturyenvironment

- Business ethics incommunication

- Business/professionalcommunication in new media contexts

- Business communication andbusiness discourse

- New technology (e.g.Social Network Service) and business communication

2. Globalization and intercultural communication

- Interculturalcommunication issues in mergers and acquisitions

- Internationalcommunication in the era of global century

- Intercultural marketingand branding

- Business English as LinguaFranca

3. Business stakeholder communication

- Public relations andconsumer behaviours in intercultural contexts

- Communication withinternal stakeholders: Employee voice, organisational communication

- Communication withexternal stakeholders: Customers, business partners, investors, andpolicy-makers

4. Rhetoric and Persuasion

- Persuasive and rhetoricalcommunication

- Decision-making andnegotiation

- Crisis communicationmanagement

5. Business Communication Education across disciplines in BusinessEnglish and Management

- Teaching stakeholderperspective of business communication

- Professional training inbusiness communication

- Teachingbusiness/professional communication

Guidelinesfor submission

1. Proposal format: For the acceptance decision and conferenceproceeding, authors should submit an “extended abstract” to ABC Asia-Pacific2015 using the following format:

Title

Author(s): Please list authors and their affiliations in the orderin which you would like to list their names on the conference program.

Summary of the study: The texts are limited to 500~1,000 words (excludingreferences), explaining the purpose of the study, the research methodologyused, the key findings of the study, and implications for education and/orbusiness.

Keywords: Please list 5~6 keywords of the study.

Other considerations:

1. The preferred format is Microsoft Word.

2. The final abstract is recommend to be presented in no more than2 pages in length including figures and tables (single-spaced, 10 pt. font, 1inch margins).

3. Proposal submission: Please submit your proposal on-line by June 31, 2015, extended to July 16,2015.

3. Review of proposals: Proposals will be peer reviewed and youwill be informed of the result via e-mail by the end of July, 2015, extended to August 16,2015.
