我院顺利承办2019年优秀大学生暑期夏令营活动

7月1日至5日，我院顺利承办2019年广东外语外贸大学优秀大学生暑期夏令营活动商英学院专场。来自西南大学、中国海洋大学、暨南大学、北京化工大学、华中农业大学等全国20所高校的25名优秀大学生前来我院参加学术讲座、专家沙龙、学长分享、学员讨论、综合测试等系列学术活动。

1日下午，学员们在我院研究生的带领下参观校园和图书馆。学院邀请夏翠军老师为学员们讲解图书馆的馆藏资源、文献检索、图书流通服务、文化活动等。学员们对广外图书馆丰富的馆藏资源和便利的使用方式赞誉有加。

2日上午，本届夏令营开营仪式在南校区图书馆报告厅举行，学校党委研究生工作部部长刘志军主持开营仪式，何传添副校长出席并致欢迎词。

2日下午，学术活动正式开始。我院研一的杨虹琳同学和研二的刘卓同学作为学长代表与学员们分享商英学院的学术氛围和法律语言学方向的学术研究心得。在商英讲坛活动中，郭桂杭院长回顾商务英语研究学科的发展史，介绍广外商英学院的办学特色，并和大家分享商英学院的办学目标和未来期冀。随后，营员们移步学院会议室，利用“寻找共同点”的小组活动,将自己介绍给参加专家沙龙的老师们。我院戴桂玉教授、徐章宏教授和胡春雨教授分别从文体学、语用学、经济学等专业领域切入商务英语研究，明晰商务英语研究的理论性与实用性。三位教授详细解答了学员们的疑惑，学员们认真做笔记并就自己感兴趣的地方积极提问，现场气氛十分活跃。

学长分享与商英讲坛

专家沙龙

3日进行的是两场学术讲座和一场学者沙龙，我院陈开举教授与刘平教授分别从自身研究方向出发，和学员们交流分享方法和心得，带给大家别开生面的商务文化研究以及跨文化研究之旅。我院商务英语研究专业现研三并即将就读博士的周芷伊同学从“平衡”与“选择”这两个角度和大家分享了自己在校三年的学习和生活体验。同学们以小组的方式分别用“三个关键词”总结了这两天的感受，与参与沙龙的老师们分享学习体会。汪谓超副教授、乐思伟副教授和许琪副教授则就自身的求学经历、教学经验、专业认知、科研收获等方面和学员们进行深入探讨和互动，让学员们对商务英语的专业发展历程和研究前景有了更进一步的了解，更要学会遵从自己的内心，做出更加适合自己的选择。学员们对此表现出浓厚的兴趣，现场讨论热烈。

4日上午，开始了紧张的综合测评环节。本次测评包括上午的个人面试和无领导小组讨论，以及下午的学习汇报及成果展示。个人面试环节由戴桂玉教授和徐章宏教授担任评委，考量学员们的商务英语基本功、学习能力、面试能力和心理素质等方面。学员们认真准备，力争取得优异成绩。在郑铁博士与康蕾老师主持的无领导小组讨论环节中，学员们针对管理决策发生错误的情境进行思辨性讨论。下午的成果展示环节中，学员们用英文逐一汇报各自在整个夏令营活动期间的感悟与收获，也收获了评委们认真详细的点评。

5日上午，我院党委书记王秀民、研究生办公室主任康蕾老师出席闭营仪式，并为获奖的学员们颁奖。王秀民书记代表学院感谢学员们的参与和精彩表现，希望此次活动让大家感受到我院浓厚的学术氛围和人文情怀，进一步了解商务英语的专业特色和办学优势，发掘自身研究兴趣与特长，能够喜欢并选择广外作为自己的考研目标院校，一起努力建设更好的商英学院、关注粤港澳大湾区的发展、并逐步走向国际化。营员们纷纷表示,通过参营深入了解广外商务英语研究这一全国领先的专业,感受老师和学长们亲切细致的指导与帮助,更加明确了自己未来的努力方向,希望能早日加入广外商英学院这个大家庭。至此，本年度夏令营活动圆满结束。

The professors and the senior students we met these days did not give us the right answer about how wonderful this university is, but offered us with several approaches or choices for ourselves to consider. At first I was quite confused that why SEIB did not hold as many tests as other colleges would normally do, but then I realized that SEIB actually has taken much responsibility not only for the school’s future, but also for our future. Only by fully and truly understanding Business English both as a discipline and a major can we make a wiser choice, and not feel regret for choosing it once we have made up our mind…

Life is full of choices and sometimes it is so hard and bewildering, but Prof. Xu Qi gave me the answer, “Only you know what’s the most suitable one for you.” Before I came to GDUFS, I feel lonely and perplexed because all my classmates chose to further their study in translation, Linguistics, English Teaching so that I am the only one who chose this discipline. However, after two day’s learning, I have no doubt that I was right. It is my aspiration, passion and the best choice for me. In the end, I want to remind myself of Robert Frost’s poem:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.”…
